![]() ![]() ![]() The standard of animation throughout High School of the Dead is as fantastic as you would expect from a superstar studio such as Madhouse. In moments like these I couldn't help but roll my eyes while still laughing about how ludicrously gratuitous the whole thing is. Now I'm no Physicist, but I'm quite sure they should not move like that, nor should they make "boing" sounds. One case in particular sees a bullet fly in slow motion between the cleavage of one of our heroines. ![]() Every action sequence is larger that life and extremely over the top. Action scenes are very well animated, bloody and brutal. They force our characters to quickly branch out from their high school and into the suburbs, giving the animators a chance to create what is a very realistic setting. The zombies obviously got plenty of attention and are distinctive, menacing and grotesque. Part 1 will be Another and Part 2 will be Highschool of the Dead. Imouri is doing a special Double Feature anime review. It was a close vote, but Highschool of the Dead came in second place during the October vote. Everything from film grain tarnished suspense sequences to first person chase scenes and a blood spattered camera lens are lifted from the zombie sub-genre bag of tricks. The users from the Secret Anime Club voted for three spooky themed anime. The artwork, however, is of fantastic quality. So no, the characters don't exactly break new ground but they are a fun bunch. ![]()
